Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I request videos?
Use one of the following methods:
  • Use the form on the Request page or Search for a movie first and click the link in the description to request the item directly
  • Call St. Peter's at (412) 884-5225 and leave a message in the RESOURCE CENTER voice mailbox (#4).
  • Fax us at (412) 884-9552.
  • Send and email through the Contact page or to tsw100@aol.com
Your message should include:
  1. Title of tape requested
  2. Video Number from catalog, if known (you may access the catalog from the Search page)
  3. Date and length of time the tape will be needed
  4. Your actual need -- in case a particular tape is unavailable, so that possible replacement(s) can be suggested.

How long may I keep videos?
  • Videotapes can be borrowed for as long as needed to fully utilize them. However, after a reasonable amount of time, if there is a subsequent request for that tape, the member is asked to accommodate such requests.
  • Reservations can be taken for particular tape(s). This privilege should not be abused, however, by requesting large numbers of tapes for preview purposes only.
  • It is asked that members make best efforts to return videotapes in a timely fashion as soon as they are finished.

How are tapes delivered?
  • Mostly by mail or by an individual coming to St. Peter's, Brentwood to personally pick up the tapes. Sometimes tapes can be delivered to a mutually agreed-upon third party site, and in some cases, tapes are personally delivered by the director or another volunteer!
  • Because SERVICE is the goal, all efforts are made to get members the materials they request in the most cost-effective, timely method possible. (See section on My Responsibilities As a Borrower for costs.)

What are my responsibilities as a borrower?
  • The cost of mailing a package is the responsibility of the borrower. Mailing costs will be accrued for each member. An invoice with all mailing costs detailed will be sent along with the renewal form at the end of the calendar year.
  • The member is also responsible for seeing that video(s) are returned to the RESOURCE CENTER in a timely manner (by mail or personal delivery). Any costs for the return are also incurred by the member.
  • Note: The cost of mailing videotapes is less than $1.50 for the first tape, with the cost increasing only minimally for each additional tape added.
  • Members are responsible for the replacement cost of any tapes which are damaged or lost while in the care of the church/organization or a parishioner.

What if the tape I want is not in the collection?
  • The director gratefully accepts recommendations for new acquisitions -- of individual videotapes or educational series. Although there are no guarantees that every recommendation can be purchased, a member should always call the RESOURCE CENTER first to see whether a particular tape is already part of the collection, and if not, recommend it for purchase.

What kinds of equipment may I rent?
  • An EIKI multimedia projector for large screen presentations can make that much needed difference when presenting material to large groups. The projector shows both video and/or computer images and is available on a first-come, first-served basis for a $30/per use rental feel to members only.
  • Reservations can be made in advance and are highly recommended. No more than three reservations per member can be on the books at any one time.
  • A DVD player, an older video projection machine and a TV/VCR combination are also available for rental to members. Call for rates.

May I visit the Resource Center?
  • Since there are no posted hours in which the Resource Center is open for browsing on a regular basis, anyone interested in coming should CALL FIRST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! The director or other volunteer will be more than happy to accommodate any and all requests for day, evening or even weekend appointments!
